Students are encouraged to stay on top of class work, homework, and studying. Procrastination can and WILL result in poor grades. I will continuously remind students to be studying and reading their textbooks. I recommend that each student takes at least ten minutes each night to refresh their minds on the topics we are covering. This will help students to perform at their best on a regular basis.
Class Work
Class work will consist of everyday assignments including Daily Geography, worksheets, group work, and taking notes. These tasks will be expected to be completed during our class time, unless otherwise noted by myself. Some of these assignments will be due the following day and checked for grading. I will notify students when assigned class work will be graded so there will be no confusion.
Homework Homework will be given throughout the year. Most of the assigned homework will include readings from the textbook (to be determined upon hire). It is very important to keep up with these readings as it will help in understanding the subject material better. History can be very confusing at times. The textbook readings will help students to understand the bigger picture. I will expect students to have homework completed and ready to be checked at the beginning of class (due dates determined by myself). The procedure for late homework will follow the guidelines in the Grading section under Late Work. Homework later than two days will NOT be accepted.
Projects
Projects will likely be given out with each chapter we are studying. These projects will mostly be done in groups. However, there are some individual projects. Check the Class Handouts section under Survival to see an example of an individual project. These projects, whether individual or group, will help students to better understand the time in history we are studying. Many of these will ask students to put themselves in the time period. Along with this, every project will require students to conduct some sort of research. The public and school libraries are recommended for this research. Internet sites will be allowed, but limited (NO WIKIPEDIA). Plagiarism will result zeros.
Tests Tests make up 50% of a students overall grade. So, it is extremely important that students DO study for these tests. Tests will include a variation of fill in the blank, multiple choice, true/false, short answer, and usually a short discussion question. I am available for discussion about any test preparation and grade questioning, see Overview Parental Contact.
Participation
Participation and involvement in my class is REQUIRED. Participation will be scored based on how students communicate during lectures, group work, and class discussions. Hopefully, students will be excited to participate in class as we will be using various means of technology to better engage learning, see Technology.

See Grading for all grading questions on these various assignments.
Accommodation
I reserve the right to accommodate students’ individual learning styles on any assignment.
